52 Podcast Interviews #09 – Stephanie Erb

Sorry I’ve been a bit behind in updating these blog posts with the interviews.  I’ll try to catch up.  (This is what you need to subscribe to the podcast – see below – you won’t need me to tell you there’s a new episode out!)

Stephanie Erb is an actress who has probably been in one or more of your favorite television shows.  Weeds, True Blood, Ray Donovan, 24 and more!  She also had a featured role in the film Starship Troopers!  Stephanie knows acting.

I met Stephanie when she was a guest performer with my improv troupe and we’ve been friends ever since.  We even did a play together a few years ago.  This was a fun interview, not only because Stephanie is a friend, but because she is the very definition of a working actor.  It was a lot of fun to get her perspective on the Hollywood machine.

Give the interview a listen and let me know what you think.

52 Podcast Interviews #08 – Felix Pire

Felix Pire is someone I saw about a decade before I ever met.  He is an actor who starred in some pretty big name films including 12 Monkeys, opposite Brad Pitt, and Dear God where he acted with comedy legend Tim Conway.  He also starred in countless TV shows and won awards for his stage show Men On The Verge Of A His-panic Breakdown.

I met Felix through the world of puppetry and have worked on a few projects with him and for him.  Felix is a great guy and is passionate about art and creativity and I think that comes across pretty well in this interview.

Give the show a listen, fine Felix’s projects online and let me know what you thought of the interview in the comments below or one of the methods described at the end of the interview.

52 Podcast Interviews #07 – Kate Danley

When I decided I wanted to have a, sort of, inspirationally creative slant to it, I knew I’d have to ask Kate Danley to be a guest.  I’m not 100 % sure, but I believe Kate and I met during an improv class and stayed in touch since.  I’ve always been so impressed with her ‘do it yourself’ approach to creativity and I think you will be to.  She is truly someone who has paved her own way in the world of the creative arts, turning a self published book into a whole living that now allows her to travel the world and write.  There’s a lot of great creative advice in this episode, so I hope you’ll give it a listen.

Once you do listen, be sure to let me know what you thought.  And if you have an idea of someone I should interview, let me know.  I’d prefer them to be in the Southern California area so the sound quality is good, but I can try some remote interviews as well.  Thanks for listening!

What Others Are Creating #007

Sheesh, it’s been quite sometime since I’ve done one of these and I apologize for that.  I really want to make this a regular thing, but sometimes time slips away from me and this falls by the wayside.  Below is a quick round-up of some of the things that friends and strangers are working on that I’m currently digging. If any of the things below strike your fancy, check them out.

909 – By Keri Maijala
I just finished reading the “book” 909 by Keri Maijala.  It’s a fun and funny story about Hollywood and escaping it.  The word book is in quotes is because Keri published it via the web via her blog.  Visit http://clamhead.com/category/909/ and give it a read.  It’s a lot of fun and her publishing her story like this was the main reason I started publishing Agents of the Vault like I have been.

Creative Pep Talk Podcast
I’ve been listening to this podcast recently.  It’s mainly geared towards creative illustrators as the host, Andy, is one, but I’ve gathered a tip or two from listening to the episodes.  I definitely think it’s worth a listen if you are a creative person.  Take a look past through the titles of the past episodes and I’m sure you’ll see one or two you’ll find interesting.  More info is at http://illustrationage.com/creativepeptalk/

Heathers: The Musical
My good buddy John B. deHaas is the Musical Director for Heathers: The Musical at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, Florida.  If you happen to be in the area, go watch it because John is awesome and he swears the show is great.  I believe him.  More info on the show can be found here http://www.drphillipscenter.org/shows-and-events/Shows-Events/Theater/20878-heathers-the-musical.stml
