“Four thousand dollars?” Samantha asked raising an eyebrow.

“Yes.” Roger replied.  “Four thousand dollars.”

“How is that even possible?”

“It’s all about the microfibers.”

“Microfibers?”

“Yes.” Roger replied, holding them up.  “These tiny microfibers are state of the art.  They promote sweating and, in turn, weight loss.”

“Couldn’t you just put on an extra pair of sweat pants?”

“That’s the point!” said Roger, slamming his fist down on the table.  “Because of these microfibers, you don’t have to!”

“But $4000?!” Samantha yelled.

“It’s all about the microfibers!” Roger screamed.  “Didn’t you hear me say they are state of the art!”

Burlingame Avenue, 2:11 p.m. Wednesday Men’s workout pants were stolen. Estimated loss was $4,000.

All Ten Of Them
By Grant Baciocco

Edgar squinted his eyes and looked at his friends who stood in a semi-circle around him.  A smile crept across his face.  “How…how…” his words were slurred due to the amount of alcohol he and the rest of his friends had consumed.  “How many of us are there?”

“You’d better count.” Glenn replied.  His words just as slurred.

Edgar silently went around the circle, counting.  “There’s…there’s nine.”

“You didn’t count you.” Glenn replied, laughing.

“Okay, okay, let’s all count together.” Edgar ordered.

Slowly, and carefully, all ten of them began counting at the top of their lungs.

100 block of Anza Boulevard, 1:15 a.m. Thursday Intoxicated men were reported to be yelling — all 10 of them.

Socks
By Grant Baciocco

“I have no choice, I’m going to have to ditch these socks.” James said to himself as he pedaled down the street.  “Why didn’t I do laundry last night?”

He thought about the late night he’d spent playing video games rather than doing his laundry.  Now he was biking to work and was gagging because his socks smelled so bad.  Two weeks ago, he’d decided to throw out all the socks with holes in them.  He now had one pair left and had worn them for two weeks straight.

He pulled over near a car and began removing his shoes.

900 block of Linden Avenue, 5:12 p.m. Monday A resident reported seeing a man on a bike place something under her car. An officer responded and found dirty socks.

100 Word Wednesdays – Police Blotter Stories – Enough

Another 100 word story based on an item in the police blotter of my hometown of Burlingame, CA.

Enough.
By Grant Baciocco

Paul had lived in the apartment below Professor Perkins for six months.  It had been a long six months.  Professor Perkins fancied himself an evil scientist and was always testing out inventions on poor Peter.  Peter would have complained but for the most part, Professor Perkins’ inventions were never really too evil.

The doormat that turned to shaving cream when stepped on.  The giant, but only slightly powerful, magnet that caused all the metal in Peter’s apartment to hover three feet of the ground.  These were simply annoying.

His latest invention though, the Bed-Bumper-Outer, was the last straw.

Cananea Place, 1:43 p.m. Friday A man repeatedly knocked out of bed by someone he said was armed with a microwave energy weapon asked to speak with an officer.
