Day 365

It started at 5:30am this morning.  A bit earlier than it has the past few days.  Today he’s using the side of his fist, a nice departure from him using his knuckles.  Perhaps they are sore from 6 days in a row.  Good.  He deserves a little pain for the pain he’s put me through.

I had thought I’d grown used to it now that is has been a year, but I do believe, today, I have reached my wits end.  Today I may have to do something about it.  I may have to make a call.

1000 block of El Camino Real, 3:10 p.m. Wednesday Police advised a resident who said a neighbor “has been pounding on his door for almost a year” to contact the apartment manager.

Shane looked at the carpet closely.  His nose inches from the thick orange shag.  After a minute he stood up.  “Nope.  It’s still there.”

Thomas clenched his fists, “It’s can’t still be there!  I vacuumed it!  Twice!”

Shane sighed, “Then, as I told you, the vacuum is broken.”

“It can’t be broken!  I bought it two weeks ago!”

“From the Goodwill, Thomas!  It’s a crappy vacuum cleaner!  Why do you think someone donated it?”

Thomas’ hand clenched the glass in his hand.  He was close to throwing it.

“Wait.” Shane said, “Maybe you just do not know how to vacuum.”

“He doesn’t belong to you Jerry, he’s mine.” Jenna barked sharply.

Jerry shook his head, “Jenna we’ve been through this, we have joint custody.”

“That doesn’t mean you can just come over here and take him whenever you feel like it!  You have to make plans first!  Those are the rules.”

“Those are not the rules, Jenna.  The rules are we have joint custody, no plans need to be made.  If I want to take him any time I want I can as long as you are not using him.”

This fight was not going to be settled this morning.

The plastic creaked in Roger’s hand as his knuckles turned white.  He looked at Paul who sat in the recliner a few feet from him.

“It’s all crap Paul!”

Paul looked up from his newspaper.  “What is?”

“All of it!”  Roger said, gesturing wildly at the television.  “What passes for entertainment these days.  This moronic drivel that people sop into their brains like molasses!”

Paul looked at the TV then back at Roger.  “So it is.”

Paul’s lack of outrage infuriated Roger even more.  Roger took a deep breath then said, “I’m going to do something about it!”

1700 block of California Drive, 4:43 a.m. Tuesday A care facility patient called police for help. He was having trouble with his television.
