100 Word Story – Police Blotter – Pizza Night Part 1

In the history of me writing these 100 Word Stories based on items from the Police Blotter of my hometown of Burlingame, CA, I’ve never come across a two part story.  Until now.  Enjoy Part 1 below and then come right back here next week for Part 2.  You won’t want to miss it.

As always, the link to the actual police blotter item is below, however, do not click it until after Part 2 comes out and you’ve read it.  Because, spoilers!

Pizza Night Part 1
By Grant Baciocco

Thursday night was pizza night at the Stevenson household.  A night where the entire family, Bob, Jane and their three children: Tom, Mark and Stevie could sit and enjoy a slice or two of pizza.  The table was set, drinks poured all that was left was the pizza, an extra large with all the toppings.

Stevie Stevenson was the first to spot the delivery car pull up out front and the rest of the family ran to join him to watch dinner’s impeding delivery!

Imagine their horror as the driver, pizza in hand, delivered it to the house next door.

Murchison Drive, 7:22 p.m. July 2 A person waiting for a pizza to be delivered called police, said that when the delivery driver arrived a neighbor took it. An officer responded, determined the person’s complaint was unfounded, that the neighbor also ordered pizza.

100 Word Story – Police Blotter – Another no.

Heres another 100 Word Story based on an item from the police blotter of my hometown of Burlingame, California.  As always, you can see the actual blotter listing and a link to the item after the story below.  Enjoy.

Another no.
By Grant Baciocco

Roger hung up the phone and sighed.

“Another no.” He said to himself.  With his left hand he held the ruler steady and with his right, drew a line through the name in the phone book.

He had been at this for years, but he knew it was worth it.  His father had always told him that hard work and persistence pays off.  He had now reached the “L” pages of the phone book and he had a good feeling that the law of averages were on his side.  He picked up the phone and punched in the next number.

Burlingame, June 5. A resident reported receiving unwanted marriage proposals over the phone.

100 Word Story – Police Blotter – Gerald The Accountant

Below is another 100 Word story based on an item in the police blotter of my hometown of Burlingame, California.  You’ll find the actual news item as well as the link to the page the item appeared at the bottom of this post.  Enjoy!

Gerald The Accountant
By Grant Baciocco

Gerald hated being indoors and he hated anything that kept him separated from the blue skies, the green trees, the fresh air.

In general, right now, it was his job keeping him from being outdoors.  He was an accountant and accounting was one of the jobs that, more or less, kept you indoors.  He would not be able to  go outside until the last penny was accounted for and that would be, by his estimation, about three hours from now.

More immediately, the window by his desk was what was keeping him from his beloved outside.  Gerald hated that window.

Chapin Avenue, 10:56 a.m. Wednesday Someone spit on an office window. No permanent damage was reported.

100 Word Book Review – This is a decent book that takes a look behind the scenes of The Howdy Doody Show. While it does a great job of giving the reader a glimpse behind the scenes, it did rub me the wrong way in two ways.  One, the constant repeating of how talentless Bob Keeshan was.  The author can barely go two pages without mentioning it.  He was Captain Kangaroo!  He had some talent!  Also, the author cannot stop repeating how in love he was with Princess Summerfall Winterspring.  We get it, you liked her, no need repeating it.  Otherwise, it’s a great book.

Quotes:

Years later he (Bob smith) told a reporter, “I could have jumped and kissed the moon!” – Buffalo Bob on getting his first job in entertainment.
It was a rousing good adventure! Let’s not worry about whether it was a dream or not. – Phineas T. Bluster
Goodbye, kids. – Clarabell the Clown
